Michael’s Story

Michael Audain

Michael Audain is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Vancouver. He is known for his work in Vancouver's real estate industry and his generous support of the arts, most notably, through Polygon Homes and the founding of the Audain Foundation and Audain Art Museum. Audain also had a remarkable history of social activism and housing policymaking in his early years.

Michael set-up BC’s first ministry of housing in the early 1970s. Throughout his career, Michael has advised governments, shaped cooperative housing policies, and helped expand the B.C. government’s role in building housing.

Michael believes in housing, in people, and ultimately, the importance of creating a sense of place. He has been an ardent supporter of Bob & Michael’s Place since its inception.

“Bob and I have always believed in the power of philanthropy to make a difference, and this project epitomizes that belief. I’m a long-time supporter of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation and I’m thrilled to see this project come to fruition.”
