Creating a sense of community at home
Seven internationally-renowned Canadian artists came together to donate artworks in support of Bob & Michael’s Place.
Their works were auctioned at our 2023 Autumn Gala, raising a total of $543,000 towards supporting the completion of the building. Participating artists were able to receive 25% of the gavel price.
Both residential lobbies and common spaces on every floor will showcase a reproduction of the donated works, creating a sense of home by bringing art from the local community into the space.
The participating artists are: Dana Claxton, Stan Douglas, Ken Lum, Martha Sturdy, Angela Grossmann, Douglas Coupland, and Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun.

Participating artist in the 58 West Hastings Art Project
"I think what happens with art in an architectural environment is that it melts onto the building and it becomes part of the whole experience. The building now has more of a soul. And that's important because without art, a building's just a building, it could be anywhere."
